Abstract In recent years, operation and maintenance (O&M) planning optimization has attracted the attention of stakeholders in the wind energy industry, including owners and operators, original equipment manufacturers, third-party service providers, etc. O&M planning optimization aims at determining the most effective and efficient inspection and maintenance program for wind farms so that the best possible balance between reliability targets and operating expenses can be achieved. The present paper briefly reviews the models, methods and strategies for solving optimal O&M planning of wind energy farms.
