Abstract Recently, problems with side-channel attacks have been reported. Side-channel attacks steal confidential information from the cryptographic circuits that are incorporated into the security products. Fault analysis attacks are typical side-channel attacks. Fault analysis attacks intentionally change the intermediate value (generate a fault) during encryption processing and they analyze information in the internal confidential keys based on the difference between a correct cipher and a cipher containing a fault. To secure the safety of electronic devices in the future, into which cryptographic circuits have been incorporated, measures against fault analysis attacks are particularly important. Thus, the present study proposes a new countermeasure for fault analysis attacks.
