Abstract The vibrated fluidized bed is widely used recently in lignite pre-drying and upgrading. However, the strength problem is still severe due to a strong alternating load driven by the vibration exciters and should be taken into consideration in design process. In this paper, the dynamics model of the vibrated fluidized bed is established, which can describe the working principle and contribute to the design of parameters. This paper presents the structure of a large-scale dual-axis inertia horizontal vibrated fluidized bed with output of 50 tons per hour. Besides, the finite element analyses of static strength, modal and harmonic response about the abovementioned vibrated fluidized bed are carried out in ANSYS Workbench. The results of the analyses indicate that this design satisfies the requirement of dynamic strength. Resonance will not occur at operating frequency, while it occurs getting through a certain low frequency when starting up. The methodology and analysis results in this paper can provide fundamental insights and reference for the design of vibrating fluidized bed.
