Extended Optimal Replacement Policies for a Random Intervals with Working Time

Abstract We consider optimal replacement policies with random preventive maintenance, random working time or finite operating interval. For the models, we obtain the expected cost, and derive analytically optimal planned preventive maintenance time and number N (N = 0, 1, 2,... ) of working time which minimize the expected cost. Further, numerical examples are given when the failure distribution is a Weibull distribution, and the other time distributions are exponential distributions.
