Abstract At present, a cloud computing is attracting attention as a network service to share the computing resources, i.e., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services. Also, many open source softwares are developed in all parts of the world, i.e, Firefox, Apache HTTP server, Linux, Android, etc. Especially, we focus on a cloud computing environment by using open source software such as OpenStack and Eucalyptus because of the unify management of data, low cost. In this paper, we propose a new approach to software reliability assessment based on the stochastic differential equations in order to consider the interesting aspect of the network status of cloud computing environment. Also, we analyze actual software fault-count data to show numerical examples of software reliability assessment considering the characteristics of network environment.
