Abstract A consecutive-k-out-of-n:G system consists of n components which are arranged in a line or a circle and the system works if and only if at least k consecutive components work. We once discussed the reliability evaluation under the periodic inspection policy for this system. Since the consecutive-k-out-of- n:G system failure occurs when the number of consecutive working components is less than k, we considered the specified condition which is between working state and failure state. We assume that all components have independent and identically exponential lifetime distribution, and inspection policy is considered under the multi-state of the system. We improve the reliability evaluation such as the expected time to specified condition of this consecutive-k system under the policy of inspection.
