Abstract | We propose optimal backup times for resisting to information security system’s crash or fault using stochastic model. Computer systems have become essential to our society. However, malicious software and hardware faults bring a stop to computer systems. If an important computer system stops, we need to restore data from backup to recover from fault. Snapshot backup technology can make data backups instantly, however, it makes a little slow down to file system input/output. In addition, Snapshot backup can recover from data crashes, but it cannot recover from a hardware fault. In this paper, we consider snapshot backup and traditional backup, we make the model and analyze it and we show numerical examples.
