Abstract This paper presents a study of quality in healthcare. Many different aspects of quality in the healthcare system are studied including reasons for escalating healthcare cost and quality dimensions of today′s healthcare business, healthcare quality goals and their associated strategies, healthcare and industrial quality comparisons and quality improvement versus quality assurance in healthcare institutions, common healthcare administrators′ appeals for total quality and physicians′ reactions to them, steps for improving quality in healthcare, and quality indicators for use in hospital departments.
