Abstract This paper presents mining equipment maintenance related facts and figures and factors contributing to equipment maintenance cost in mines, and studies maintenance of explosion protected switchgear in mines. In addition, eight indexes and two mathematical models considered useful for application in mining equipment maintenance are presented.
