Abstract It is of great significance that the application of virtual maintenance simulation, which can find the problems of products in maintainability in early stages of product life cycle. In the process of virtual maintenance, the interaction between virtual hand and maintenance tools influences the precision of simulation and the immersive of users. This paper establishes a model of interaction features of the virtual hand, which consist of gridding, interactive feature area and points, and proposes an interaction method suited for immersive virtual maintenance based on the model. Experimental results show that the proposed virtual maintenance interaction method makes the simulation more accurate and improves user’s immersion.
