Abstract | Using prior information of population parameters based upon concomitant variable, two efficient families of sampling strategies for predicting the unknown value of population mean of variable of interest under simple random sampling design have been defined. It has been shown that efficient sampling strategies can be developed from the families of strategies under the given practical situations which will have smaller mean squared error than the existing ones. It is also shown that efficient strategies from the families can be obtained in the situation when the use of sample mean per unit, ratio and product estimators using same sampling design are generally recommended.
